Massachusetts State Champion Sycamore (Above)

There were only 4 of us there that day. You don't see me because I had to take the picture. Three people didn't even make it half way around this Massachusetts State Champion Sycamore tree. So, figure that it's a 6 person tree-at least.

What is so amazing about it is that it lives on the side of the main street through town. It has a small plaque. But if you didn't know it was there you would just fly right by it.

Many state champion trees live like that. You might look them up on your state university's extension service site. Search on state champion trees. Or you might just hear about an amazing tree from locals.

Make sure to give the tree a "thank you" and let us know by posting your photo and story with any of these hashtags: #ThankATree. #VisitBigTrees #RingAroundTrees.

Sleepy Hollow, New York, USA Maple

During an autumn gathering, Dr. Jim Conroy, the homeowners, and a friend of theirs made a #RingAroundTrees.

There were showing the enormous size of this Maple tree in the backyard. The homeowners mulch it with shredded leaves so it gets through the winter. It's so precious to them.

The Maple is estimated to be over 150 years old because the homeowners know when the original house was built.
